Why leave us a gift?

We're grateful for every gift we receive, whether that's a gift in your Will or a donation in memory of a loved one.

A gift of any size will help us continue our work to inspire future generations of Londoners and visitors to our global city. Your gift will help us grow, conserve and display our collection, and further ground-breaking research about London and its place in the world.

A gift to London Museum’s general charitable purposes ensures that any legacy we receive can be used where it's most needed and can go towards projects we may be working on in the future.

How to leave us a gift

There are multiple ways you can consider leaving a gift in your Will. We would always recommend that you seek professional advice to ensure that any legacy meets your own personal circumstances and is accurate.

London Museum is the public identity of The Board of Governors of the Museum of London (a charity registered as ‘Museum of London’ with charity no. 1139250). As a charity, a gift to the museum would be exempt from inheritance tax. Any amount, large or small, would make a valuable difference to our work and would be gratefully received.

If you decide you would like to include the museum in your Will, you will need to know our registered charity name and number, and address, which must be written in your Will:

Museum of London
150 London Wall, London, EC2Y 5HN
Registered charity number 1139250

If you already have a Will

If you'd like to leave the museum a gift and you already have an existing Will, you can do so through a codicil, or an official alteration to your Will. We would recommend speaking to your solicitor to make sure your codicil is valid. You may also choose to write a new Will.
