Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1656
St Paul's from the west
This etching depicts the former St Paul's Cathedral from the west. It derives from a book, William Dugdale's History of St Paul's, 1658. The building had been repaired in 1632 and Itatiannate cladding had been applied by Inigo Jones.
The artist Wenceslaus Hollar produced a series of prints containing the principal records of Old St Pauls, Cathedral, destroyed in the Great Fire of London 1666.
