Temple Bar from a scarce print in the possession of the author - A Crown or a Grave - Townley - Fletcher. Francis Townley & George Fletcher were "Executed at Kennington Common, July 30 Exposed on Temple Bar Aug'st 2nd 1746" for their part in the 1745 Jacobite rebellion. The print includes eight lines of moralising verse, masks of the two traitors, and an inset picture of Temple Bar with a devil leaning over the frame carrying a flag with the words "A Crown or a Grave".
