M.P's House burnt down by Suffragettes
Sepia photograph of MP's house burnt down by Suffragettes, 'Levetleight' one of the most handsome residences of the Upper part of St Leonards was burned to the ground early this morning. The fire was discovered between one and two a.m and was in a few hours a mass of ruins. the house was until recently occupied by Arthur du Cros M.P for Hastings and before that by Mr Harvey du Cros, during the time he was meember fo rthe Borough. The damage is estimated at between £9,000 and £10,000. By a lucky incident Mr du Cros had given up the lease only a few weeks ago and the place was unfurnished, Suffragette literature was found in the grounds as well as a hatchet, Mr du Cros by his votes and by his answers to questions on thesuffrage question has not given satisfaction to the Militants on the suffrage question'.
