Printed Ephemera — 1908-02
Women's Parliament, Caxton Hall
The Suffragette leaders Christabel Pankhurst, Mrs Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence and Mrs Mabel Tuke (Hon. Sec. of the WSPU) outside Caxton Hall during the 'Women's Parliament', February 1908.
This event was organised by the Women's Social and Political Union to discuss the Enfranchisment Bill that was hoped would be introduced into Parliament that session. The message on the admission tickets read 'we demand the vote on the same terms as it is or may be granted to men.' The angry delegations to Westminster that followed the Women's Parliament sessions resulted in several scuffles with the police and the arrest of many Suffragettes including Emmeline Pankhurst.
