Carpenter's Hall, London Wall
The headquarters of the Carpenters’ Company (a City of London Livery Company), Carpenters Hall has stood on the same site on London Wall since 1530, although in three buildings. Thomas Hosmer Shepherd has drawn the original building, which in 1830 housed Messrs. Kent, Luck & Co., ‘the most extensive concern of any in the Metropolis in the carpet trade’, according to Shepherd (London in the Nineteenth Century, 1829-31). Following a fire, the second hall was built in 1876-80. This burned down in the Blitz of 1941 and a third hall (still standing) was built in the 1950s which still stands today.
