Paintings, Prints & Drawings — C. 1840
The Lion Brewery Lambeth
The Red Lion Brewery, Sutton Walk, was founded in 1837. Its grand storehouse, topped by the coade stone lion (which now stands at the east end of Westminster Bridge), was a landmark on the south bank until it was demolished in 1949 to make way for the Festival of Britain site. To the left stands the shot tower and Waterloo Bridge, under which the Lord Mayor’s barge has just passed.
