Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1792-05-10
London Wall
London Wall. The fire on Ludgate Hill, May 1 1792, disclosed this venerable piece of antiquity, which was till then inclosed with houses. It plainly appeared to have been a part of the ancient City Wall, (with one of the Barbicans or watch towers upon it) being situate between ludgate and Fleet ditch. The above view was taken from the North side of the wall. For the particular course of London Wall, see Pennant's. London and Plate. Pub, May 10 1792, by N.Smith, Gt Mays Building's, St Martin's Lane.
