Limehouse Causeway
This drawing records bomb damaged buildings in Limehouse Causeway near the docks just after World War II. The Wo Fong Chinese restaurant at number 23 has survived, but much of the area was destroyed in the blitz. The remainder was demolished and cleared by London County Council. From the 1930s, this original London Chinatown had been in decline. Road names like Mandarin Street, Pekin Street and Canton Street are a reminder of the community and of London's Far Eastern trading connections.
