Photography — C. 1909
Leicester Square
This night photograph of Leicester Square typifies Coburn's style, influenced by Impressionist art. Coburn was a great advocate of pictorial photography. Here he has incorporated reflections in the wet pavement and atmospherically deep shadows. Coburn published 'London' in small numbers, complete with 20 hand-pulled photogravures; a method of printing Coburn had studied in the capital.
