Bridges: A bus crossing Richmond Bridge, probably in 1930
In 1925 Linney became the first editor of the Port of London Authority Monthly Magazine. In this capacity he was able to fully explore the working Thames. Wherever he went, Linney took his camera. He also published a number of books, including Peepshow of the Port of London (1929) and The Lure and Lore of London's River (1930), both of which offer an enthusiastic portrait of the Thames and the port.
This shot shows Richmond Bridge before it was widened in 1937. Built between 1774-1777, the bridge can best be appreciated when seen at low tide.
