Pullover, T-shirt
Cotton t-shirt, 1975. Designed by Vivienne Westwood and Malcom McLaren for Sex.
In 1974 Vivienne Westwood and Malcom McLaren renamed their Kings Road shop and clothing label 'Sex'. The shop stocked rubber and fetish wear and customized t-shirts with subversive slogans and images. In 1975 they were prosecuted under the obscenities act for their t-shirt depicting two naked cowboys.
This t-shirt is made from two layers of white cotton stitched together with a slashed opening above the bust. It is printed with text taken from Alexander Trocchi's School for Wives. It cost £5 when bought new.
