Shirt
Cotton shirt c.1971-1973. Designed by Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren for Let it Rock.
In 1971 Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood set up their shop 'Let it Rock', selling 1950s clothing, records and memorabilia. Westwood took original clothing to pieces to work out how they were made and gradually began to produce her own line of garments. McLaren and Westwood also sold t-shirts which they customized by cutting, stitching and printing them with subversive slogans and images.
This striped shirt has been customized with a small crocheted motif on the lower right hand side, and a line of stitching at the back which pulls the collar out of shape.
