Lower Thames
Two of the W H J Alexander towage company's 'Sun' tugs assisting the Furness Withy line's ship 'Pacific Reliance' upstream in Woolwich Reach. In the foreground is the Thames Sailing barge 'Florence Myall'. She was built in Rochester in 1884 and owned by Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers. In the distance can be seen one of the Woolwich ferries. Compare this with 2013.10/17 - for a curious example of the photographer's art! Photographed for E. Arnot Robertson's book 'Thames Portrait' (1937).
