Waistcoat
Men's waistcoat in white silk satin woven to shape with stripes and motifs and a border of silver thread down the front edges brocaded with rose motifs in coloured silk. High round neck with standing collar. Sleeveless. Buttons of metal thread.
Worn by George Augustus, 9th Lord North, 3rd Earl of Guildford.
A sample of identical fabric used in this waistcoat is in the Maze and Steer pattern book in the V&A Museum (T.384-1972).
