Catalogue note by Santina Levey. Long lappet or sash made from a lace border joined edge to edge down the centre and gathered to form rounded ends. Black machine lace made on the Leavers machine in imitation of Chantilly bobbin lace. The pattern of floral sprigs within rococo cartouches is typical of the Second Empire style [repeat 6.5 cm]. Condition: good. Some slight wear to the edges.
