Printed Ephemera — 2011-03
Placard, protest placard
This protest placard was made for and carried in the March for the Alternative demonstration that took place in London on 26th March 2011.
The anti-cuts against public spending march, also known as the March for the Alternative was organised by the Trades Union Congress. The march through central London that culminated in a rally in Hyde Park was estimated to have attracted 250,000 protestors including union members, public sector workers and families.
This placard refers directly to public sector spending cuts introduced by the Conserviative-Liberal Democrat coalition government and the fear of a privatised welfare state and public services.
