Margaret Thatcher speaking at the Youth Ford Lecture
Former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher speaking at the 17th Annual Ford Lecture to Youth in November 1971. At this time Margaret Thatcher was the Education Secretary and she spoke about the essentials of a good education in a technological age. The meeting took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London's South Bank and was attended by over 2,500 sixth form students. At the time the Times newspaper reported that Thatcher felt that "Six-formers and fifth-formers are the most intelligent and critical audience in the country, not excluding universities and the House of Commons".
