Audience at filming of 'Ready Steady Go' television programme
‘Ready Steady Go’ was one of the first pop television programmes which was broadcast between 1963 – 1966. It was shown on Friday night at 6.08pm and was in direct competition with BBC television’s show ‘Top of the Pops’. The show featured new releases and spontaneous interviews with musicians. The show was recorded at the Rediffusion’s studios in Kingsway, and queues to attend the show and be part of the dancing audience often stretched around the block.
