Crowds and pigeons in Tafalgar Square
Crowds and pigeons in Trafalgar Square in September 1960. Trafalgar Square was once renowned for the large numbers of pigeons and feeding them was a popular activity. However, in 2003 bylaws were passed banning the feeding of the pigeons because of the damage that they and their droppings caused to the monuments.
