Trafalgar Square, Christmas 1955
Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square, December 1955. The Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square has been a gift to the people of London from the city of Oslo each year since 1947 as a token of British support for Norway during the Second World War. The lights on the tree were switched on in 1955 by the Mayor of Oslo, tradition dictates that this takes place on the first Thursday of December.
