Gelatin silver print
Rita Martin's photo of Gertie Millar is glued into an album containing another 35 prints showing the actress in various roles. This photo shows the actress in a costume from Bric-a-Brac.
The revue Bric-a-Brac ran from 18 September 1915 for roughly a year at The Palace. It consisted of seven scenes, the most famous of which was probably Scene VII called 'On the Tiles'. Gertie Millar performed as 'A Jumping Jack' with 16 similarly clad chorus girls all wearing 'flame-coloured tousled wigs' (The Stage).
According to the Tatler (29 September 1915) On the Tiles was ‘the most beautiful scene of all … so exquisite as to make a success of the revue without anything else. When the curtain rises you hear a sigh of rapture go all around the house.’
