Theatre Royal, Haymarket
The rear of Cumberland Terrace, Regents Park. Cumberland Terrace is a neo- classical terrace of houses designed by architect John Nash and was built by William Mount Nurse in 1826-8. The impressive terrace consisted of three blocks linked by decorative arches. Named after the Duke of Cumberland, King George IV’s younger brother the terrace was originally intended to stand opposite a small palace which was never built. In the 1950s the building was restructured to include apartments as well as houses. It is still one of the most exclusive addresses in London.
