Shoe
Pointed, patent leather shoes with ribbon laces by Hobbs. Originally a shoe brand, Hobbs opened its first shop in Hampstead, London in 1981. The material and the use of ribbon reflect a vogue for all things Georgian and flamboyant also associated with the New Romantics.
The shoes belonged to Kim Philpotts who moved to London form Birmingham in 1981. Philpotts donated a large number of her clothing from the 1980s and 1990s to the Museum, which reflect the designer and retail scene of the capital during that period.
