Mr Broad Bean
Mr Broad Bean is one of the characters of Una Maw's book The Vegetable Kingdom. The dolls were made by Maw while she lived in London around 1920, and were donated to the London Museum in 1922. Within the book, Mr Broad Bean is a visitor to the king.
oll with stuffed cloth body dressed in white patterned cotton trousers and a blue and white cotton patterned tunic, belted at the waist with a strip of khaki woollen twill. Hat made from same khaki fabric, and shepherds crook made from wire covered in black wool. Head resemebles a bean, with facial features painted, embroidered or sewn on.
