Miss Sage
Miss Sage is one of the characters of Una Maw's book The Vegetable Kingdom. The dolls were made by Maw while she lived in London around 1920, and were donated to the London Museum in 1922. Within the book, Miss Sage is a teacher who passes out wisom (or 'sage' advice).
Doll with stuffed cloth body dressed in skirt and tunic of woven blue silk and white cotton crochet scarf with floral silk trim. Round head with with facial features painted, embroidered or sewn on, including black framed glasses. Two stalks of wire with thread crocheted sage leaves.
