Printed Ephemera — 1984-1987
Poster
This poster was issued by the Anti-Apartheid Movement as part of its campaign to boycott South African goods. The poster urges British consumers to 'LOOK before you BUY' and displays South African products including tinned fruit, sherry and fresh fruit sold in UK supermarkets.
On five of the products the labels have been replaced by black and white images of Apartheid South Africa. These include the iconic image of the dying child Hector Pieterson who was shot dead by police during the Soweto Uprising of 1976.
