Social History — 1967
Reproduction photo
This photograph shows Stanley Green (1915-1993) carrying out an early attempt at a protest campaign. The photograph was developed from a roll of film found among Stanley's effects after his death and the exact circumstances of the event shown are not known. However, it may relate to an incident in 1967, around the time of his mother’s death, when Stanley was banned from the premises of an old people's home in Northolt, near his home in Ealing. In June 1968 he began his more famous campaign against protein. The placard reads 'They despised Miss Lucas. Now they have got rid of her'.
