Manor Garden allotments
Colour pigment photographic print showing Manor Garden Allotments in Hackney Wick, 2007. The allotments were established in 1900 when the director of Barings Bank gave small plots of land for the use of deprived local people to grow their own vegetables. The plotholders were evicted and the allotments swept away in 2007 to create the Olympic Park. This photograph was taken as part of a project to document the site of the London 2012 Olympic Games prior to its closure for redevelopment in July 2007.
