This flyer advertises a picket and a benefit night for striking miners during the 1984-1985 Miners' Strike. The organisers aimed to picket the coal-fired Neasden Power Station during the day from 7am. Joining the 'Culture Shock Picket' were various artists from the world of music, poetry and comedy including Andy de la Tour, Jeremy Hardy, Mike Rosen and Porky the Poet (Phil Jupitus).
The evening benefit was held at Islington Town Hall with a the line-up including poet Benjamin Zephaniah and comedian Rik Mayall. Betty Heathfield, chair of the miners' support group Women Against Pit Closures was a keynote speaker at the event.
