Middlesex Fire Service Training School
A fireman attending a major fire at the Standard Bottle Company, New Southgate in 1960. The incident was particularly dangerous due to the presence of chemicals and the potential threat to a nearby petrol station and gasworks. The firemen in the photograph is likely to be the Station Officer, possibly from Station 10 Finchley Fire Station. A Divisional Officer unfortunately lost his life at the scene. Henry Grant made 10 photographs of the event.
