A designated 'play street' clear of traffic
A designated 'play street' clear of traffic in Islington. The sign reads 'Play Street, Vehicles prohibited sunrise to sunset unless calling at premises in this street'. During the 1950s there were approximately 700 play streets in London but by the 1980s all of them had been given over to redevelopment.
