Funeral procession of King George VI
King George VI died in his sleep at the age of 52 on 6 February 1952. The funeral of this well-loved king, who had remained in the capital alongside Londoners during the Blitz of the Second World War, drew thousands to the streets of London. Onlookers watched the funeral procession before he was buried at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
