Albert memorial, Hyde Park
The Albert Memorial, Kensington Gardens, Westminster, c. 1890. The memorial was erected in the 1870s on the instructions of Queen Victoria in honour of her late husband, Prince Albert, who died of typhoid in 1861. A number of architects, led by Sir George Gilbert Scott, and sculptors were involved in the project, which lasted several years.
