A clash between a policeman and a protestor at a Mosley riot in Trafalgar Square
Clashes at a Mosley riot in Trafalgar Square between supporters, protestors and the police, c. 1960. Sir Oswald Mosley was a leader of the British fascist movement. A prominent figure before the Second World War, he stood at the 1959 general election for Kensington North, shortly after the 1958 Notting Hill race riots, and again at the 1966 general election, this time for Shoreditch and Finsbury. However, opposition to fascism was strong in post-war Britain and on both occasions he polled few votes.
