Racism Within Trade Unions
Booklet entitled 'Racism Within the Trade Unions', produced by the Greater London Council's (GLC) Anti-Racist Trade Union Working Group, 1984. The Group was set up in part as a response to the GLC's Anti-Racist Year. It is based on the answers to a questionnaire sent to unions within Greater London. The booklet outlines the problem of continued racial prejudice and discrimination in Britain despite twenty years passing since the first race relations legislation was introduced in the 1960s. Amongst the proposed solutions are implementing equal opportunity policies, treating racism as a disciplinary offence and appointing a full-time Race Relations Officer within the union.
