Printed Ephemera — 1977
Caribbean Post
The headline of this issue of the 'Caribbean Post' reads 'We want carnival not war.' The 1976 Notting Hill carnival was marred by widespread violence. Clashes occurred between the police and young carnival goers throughout the 1970s. The 'Caribbean Post' blames both the 'provocative display of...police power and some irresponsible youths and agents provocateurs...'. The newspaper also warns rival groups of carnival organisers against in-fighting.
