Printed Ephemera — 1995
The Pink Paper
The 'Pink Paper' is the UK's leading lesbian and gay newspaper. The headline refers to a campaign by the queer rights activist group 'Outrage!'. They publicly named several Church of England clergymen as gay. David Hope, then Bishop of London, stated that his sexuality was ambiguous, but that he was celibate. 'Outrage!' was widely criticised for its ruthless tactics. However, one member, Peter Tatchell, justified this action by the fact that it led to a number of senior churchmen admitting to being gay.
