Placard, protest placard

Demonstration placard on a wooden pole carried by protestors at a rally held in London on 5 August 2006 against the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. The placard is printed with the slogans 'Boycott Israel' and 'We are all Hizbullah'. On one side is a colour photographic image of a child killed during an air attack and on the other a colour photographic portrait of the Hizbullah leader. This was one of many identical placards distributed by the Islamic Human Rights Commission and an Islamic organisation called Innovative Minds. The protest related to the conflict which began in July 2006 when the paramilitary organisation Hizbullah attacked Israel and kidnapped two of its soldiers. Israel then launched a sustained attack on Lebanon, killing many civilians. United Nations intervention brought an end to the dispute in September.
