C. H. Simpson Esq, MCRGV, for upwards of 36 years-with a distant view of his colossal likeness in variegated lamps
C.H Simpson was the Master of Ceremonies at Vauxhall Gardens from 1798. The inscription on this print reads, ' Drawn in the Gardens, on the night of August the 19th 1833' and the plate was published on the night of his benefit performance.
Vauxhall Gardens at this time was an extremely popular venue for entertainment and there are many prints in the collection depicting various aspects of it.
