What exactly is heterosexuality...and what causes it?
This satirical diagram is entitled 'What exactly is heterosexuality and what causes it?' Suggested factors include 'hormonal imbalance', 'social conditioning' and 'childhood trauma'. Written and drawn by Alan Wakeman, it was also published as a wall poster sold by Gay's the Word bookshop.. Wakeman said: 'I wrote this light-hearted jibe at straights to give them an inkling of what it feels like to be got at in the non-stop, subtle and insidious way we gays were before gay liberation changed everything'.
