Waterloo Bridge builders union meeting, Waterloo
Waterloo Bridge construction workers holding a union meeting, August 1939. The bridge was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and built by the London County Council to replace the earlier bridge of 1817, designed by John Rennie, which had started to disintegrate. The new bridge was partially opened in 1942 and completed in 1945.
