Printed Ephemera — C. 1870
Sir Charles Napier
Painted background sheet for tinsel portrait of Sir Charles Napier. The sheet is painted to represent the deck of a ship with cannon and explosion. The portrait of Napier would be applied to the sheet once the tinselling had been completed. The style of the sheet suggests it was one of the hand-coloured background sold by Jonathan King.
