Broadsheet printed with 'rules and regulations to be observed by all persons engaged at the Royal Amphitheatre (Astley's) under the management of Andrew Ducrow & William West. Dated April 6th 1839 the broadsheet is divided into sections and columns outlining the specific rules to be observed by 'Dramatic & Equestrian corps', 'musicians', 'stable' boys 'flymen', 'flatmen', 'wingmen', 'carpenters & stagemen' and 'stage keepers'. In total 63 separate rules are printed on the sheet together with a number of general rules that apply to all performers and workers. These include the banning of smoking,drunkenness, gambling and the introduction of strangers to dressing rooms.
