Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1944
Keep your mind on the job and save your knuckles
This poster was issued by the Ministry of Labour and National Service and produced by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. It has an illustration by Grace Golden and promotes safe work practices in the factory.
It is one of a series of 'safety first' posters produced during the Second World War in response to the growing number of women working in factories. Their presence was seen to bring new hazards and safety issues into the previously male-dominated factory environment.
