Printed Ephemera — 1985
Black Arts in London
The Greater London Council funded this fortnightly publication, published by Arts Media Group and MAAS (Minority Arts Advisory Service) as part of its campaign to promote arts diversity in the capital. It includes articles, reviews and listings for 'Black Theatre, Film, Dance, Visual Arts, Literature and related events in London'.
This issue also contains reports on arts funding plans after the abolition of the Greater London Council (GLC) planned for March 1986. At the time, the GLC was channelling a sixth of its £24.2 million annual arts budget into black and minority ethnic arts groups. There is an appeal by the producers of the Black Arts in London for contributions to enable it to continue to provide a 'forum' for this 'under-funded and under-represented area of the arts'.
