Printed Ephemera — 1993-04
New Moon
This is the April 1993 edition of New Moon, a Jewish events magazine, priced at £1.50. It is published primarily for the north London Jewish community. The leading article, 'Punching Judy', reports on coping with domestic violence. The magazine also has a 'lonely hearts' column and an article on a controversial proposal to construct an eruv in Barnet, which would create a boundary allowing Jews living within it to carry out tasks otherwise forbidden on the Sabbath. The first eruv was established in the area in 2003 covering six and a half square miles in Hendon, Golders Green and Hampstead Garden suburb. In 2006 a second eruv was created covering Edgware.
