Black and white picture postcard with a photograph depicting the facade of Taylor's eel & pie house. In the open doorway stands a woman and a young child, possibly Mrs Taylor the owner . The shop has the street number '335' but there is no indication of its exact location. The donor believes the shop was, however in Hammersmith. The facade of Taylor's eel and pie house follows a standard design, having two large windows either side of the central doorway. Customers could see a display of live eels in tanks in the windows. Dutch eels bought from Billingsgate market were stewed or used to fill pies. Eel, pie and mash shops provided London's working class with an affordable hot meal.
