London Bridge during the evening rush hour
Roger Mayne’s photograph eloquently captures the central London rush hour. Pedestrians hurry across London Bridge alongside the jammed solid traffic. Many of the typical vehicles of the 1960s appear, from the classic Routemaster bus to the cult bubble car. Today, bikes make up almost half the daily northbound traffic over London Bridge. A recent survey for the Greater London Authority recorded over 9000 bicycles crossing the bridge between 6am-8pm.
