Social History — 1951
Antelope
Ernest Race designed this Antelope chair for the Festival of Britain, 1951. It was used for outdoor seating at the South Bank site. The chairs were of a modern style with steel rod frames, moulded plywood seats and balled feet. Although influenced by the designs of the American Charles Eames, the Antelope also referenced more traditional English chairs.
